Emsculpt NEO in Puebla

Emsculpt NEO is a non-invasive body-contouring treatment that combines, in the same applicator and at the same time, high-intensity focused electromagnetic energy (HIFEM) and radiofrequency (RF): it works muscle and fat together. It does not cause weight loss or replace surgery; it pays off in people who are already close to their goal and want to improve the tone and contour of a specific area.

What is Emsculpt NEO?

Emsculpt NEO is a non-invasive body-contouring device that delivers two energies at once from the same applicator: high-intensity focused electromagnetic energy (HIFEM) and radiofrequency (RF). HIFEM triggers supramaximal muscle contractions —far more intense and frequent than voluntary exercise— that stimulate the muscle, while RF heats the tissue and reduces part of the localised fat in the area. That simultaneous work on muscle and fat is what gives the treatment its name.

Manufacturer studies report, on average, a fat reduction in the treated area of around 30 % and an increase in muscle mass of around 25 % after a four-session protocol. These are study averages, not an individual guarantee: results may vary according to each patient, their body composition, their anatomy and their lifestyle.

It is important to be clear about what it is not. Emsculpt NEO is not a weight-loss treatment nor a substitute for liposuction or an abdominoplasty. It does not remove excess skin, it does not correct a rectus diastasis that needs surgery, and it does not make up for absent diet or exercise. Its role is that of a contouring and toning tool for someone already close to their goal, not a shortcut for a change that belongs to surgery or to lifestyle.

Techniques used by Dr. Arístides Arellano

Emsculpt NEO is not prescribed “for everyone”: here the consultation decides whether the patient’s area and goal are right for an energy-based treatment, or whether the result they want belongs to another route.

  • Assessment first — body composition, skin quality and the patient’s goal are reviewed to confirm that Emsculpt NEO is the right tool and not a contouring surgery.
  • Treated by area — the applicator is placed over the region of interest (most often abdomen and buttocks, and also arms, thighs or calves), in a usual protocol of four sessions of about 30 minutes, spaced roughly a week apart.
  • Honest combination, not replacement — when there is excess skin or significant deep fat, the correct answer is liposuction or an abdominoplasty; Emsculpt NEO may make sense as support for muscle tone in selected cases, not as a substitute for that surgery.

How is it performed?

The session lasts about 30 minutes and requires no anaesthesia and no downtime. The applicator is fixed over the area to be treated and begins to emit, in an alternating and synchronised way, the heat of the radiofrequency and the contractions of HIFEM. You feel an intense muscle contraction —the muscle tightens involuntarily— together with a warmth often described as a warm towel on the skin; both are well tolerated and their intensity is adjusted during the session. There are no incisions, needles or recovery: normal activity resumes the same day. Treatment is planned as a series, because the effect is gradual and cumulative, and it is reassessed by comparing against the starting point.

Every medical treatment —topicals, peels and energy-based devices included— carries risk and requires a prior assessment. In darker skin (Fitzpatrick IV–VI, the most common phototypes in Mexico) a poorly indicated procedure can darken the patch instead of lightening it. Results may vary according to each patient, their phototype and their individual triggers.

Who is a good candidate?

  • People close to their ideal weight (usually with a body-mass index below 30) who want to improve muscle tone and reduce localised fat in a specific area.
  • Patients who want to define the abdomen or buttocks and already keep up diet and exercise, but find an area that does not respond like the rest.
  • Those who prefer an approach without surgery and without downtime and understand that the result is contour and tone, not weight loss.
  • It is not suitable as a weight-loss treatment, when there is excess skin or a diastasis that needs an abdominoplasty, or in pregnancy. It is also not applied over metallic or electronic implants or devices in the area (pacemaker, defibrillator, some IUDs or other implants); this is always confirmed at the consultation.

Recommended aftercare treatments

After each session it is normal to feel, in the treated muscle, something like the soreness of the day after a workout; it settles on its own within one to three days and does not stop normal activity. It is advisable to stay well hydrated and to keep up diet and exercise, because the result is sustained with lifestyle, not in spite of it. Dr. Arístides usually frames the treatment within a contouring plan, so that each session adds up and the result is evaluated with the patient against the starting point. Before and after

Most patients want to see before-and-after photographs before deciding. Out of respect for each person’s privacy, Dr. Arístides Arellano shows real cases —always with documented consent— during your in-person consultation, where you can review results from patients with a starting point similar to yours. Results may vary from patient to patient.

Approximate price

It is sold as a course: 10 sessions from approximately $15,000 MXN, depending on the area worked. Approximate price — the definitive cost is set at your private consultation with Dr. Arístides Arellano.

About Dr. Arístides Arellano

Dr. Arístides Arellano is a plastic surgeon holding a specialty licence: he practises under a Mexican medical licence (D.G.P. 1125959) and a specialty licence in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (0002008), both issued by the Directorate General of Professions (DGP), which reissued his certificate of professional standing in 2025. His career began before Mexico’s present-day specialty-board system existed: he belongs to the founding generation of plastic surgery in Puebla, the second generation of a surgical tradition started in 1971 by Dr. Francisco Arellano Ocampo. Trust is verified, not promised: both licences are public and anyone can look them up in the DGP’s National Registry of Professionals.

Recovery · step by step

  • Same dayNormal activity resumes immediately. There are no incisions and no downtime.
  • First 24–72 hoursIt is normal to feel something like post-workout soreness in the treated muscle; it settles on its own.
  • Between sessionsSessions are spaced, usually a week apart, until the protocol is complete (generally four).
  • At 4–12 weeksThe result consolidates gradually as muscle and fat respond; it is compared against the starting point.
  • MaintenanceThe result is sustained with diet and exercise; maintenance sessions may be considered case by case.

Frequently asked questions

Does Emsculpt NEO help you lose weight?

No. Emsculpt NEO is not a weight-loss treatment: it is a contouring and toning treatment that reduces localised fat and stimulates the muscle in a specific area. It pays off in people already close to their ideal weight, not as a substitute for diet, exercise or surgery. Results may vary from patient to patient.

How many Emsculpt NEO sessions do I need?

Usually four sessions of about 30 minutes, spaced roughly a week apart, though the exact number is defined at your consultation according to the area and the goal. The effect is gradual and cumulative, so it is not judged on a single session and is reassessed against the starting point.

Does the treatment hurt?

It is usually well tolerated. You feel an intense, involuntary muscle contraction along with a warmth similar to a warm towel on the skin; the intensity is adjusted during the session. It requires no anaesthesia and there are no needles or incisions.

Is there recovery or downtime?

There is no downtime: normal activity resumes the same day. In the first 24 to 72 hours it is normal to feel something like post-workout soreness in the treated muscle, which settles on its own and does not stop activity.

Does it replace liposuction or an abdominoplasty?

No. When there is excess skin, a rectus diastasis or significant deep fat, the correct answer is liposuction or an abdominoplasty; Emsculpt NEO does not remove skin or reproduce that result. It may make sense as support for muscle tone in selected cases, and that is decided at the consultation.

When are results seen?

The effect is gradual: muscle and fat keep responding over the following weeks, and the result usually consolidates between 4 and 12 weeks after the protocol is complete. The honest approach is to compare against the starting point over that period, not to judge by the immediate impression in the mirror.
